Social skills practice that makes sense in real life
For neurodivergent kids and teens ages 6–17 who want friends — and need help navigating the tricky parts of social interaction.
Serving families in Burleson.
Many of the kids and teens we support want connection — but social situations don’t come naturally or consistently.
You might notice that your child:
wants friends but struggles to keep them
talks a lot, interrupts, or misses cues — or stays quiet and unsure of when to jump in
gets overwhelmed, frustrated, or shuts down when things don’t go as expected
has a hard time with flexibility, group work, or losing control in the moment
comes home from school feeling misunderstood or left out
These challenges aren’t about effort or motivation. They’re about skills — and skills can be practiced.
If social situations feel harder than they should…
What we do at JCZ Social Connections
JCZ Social Connections is a small-group social skills program where kids and teens practice real interactions with peers — with guidance and support as things happen.
This isn’t a lecture and it isn’t unstructured “social time.”
It’s coached practice in the moments that matter.
We focus on:
conversation skills that go beyond scripts
reading situations and adjusting behavior
managing emotions when things feel unfair or uncomfortable
flexibility, problem-solving, and recovery after mistakes
building confidence in group settings
Skills are practiced in ways that can carry over to school, home, and everyday life.
Who This Program is For
We support neurodivergent children and teens ages 6–17.
“Neurodivergent” is a broad term that describes kids whose brains process social, emotional, sensory, or attention demands differently.
Families often use this term when their child has:
Autism (often called “high-functioning” or Level 1)
ADHD
social communication differences
anxiety that impacts social confidence
sensory processing differences
challenges with emotional regulation or flexibility
A formal diagnosis is not required.
If your child is struggling socially and needs practical support, we can talk through whether this program is a good fit.
How the Groups Work
Each group meets for 1 hour per week over 8 weeks and focuses on practicing real-life social and emotional skills with peers.
Sessions are structured and supportive, with flexibility built in. Kids and teens are coached through social situations as they happen — not after the fact.
Our work is informed by the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a research-based approach to teaching skills.
In practice, that means we:
break down social situations into clear, manageable steps
practice skills during real interactions
provide guidance and feedback in the moment
reinforce effort, growth, and positive participation
support skills carrying over to everyday life
ABA is used thoughtfully and respectfully. We do not force participation or expect kids to mask who they are.
JCZ Social Connections serves neurodivergent children and teens ages 6–17.
Groups are created thoughtfully, with attention to age, developmental stage, and group dynamics — not just availability.
Groups are formed by age and developmental fit
A group begins once there are at least 5 participants
This allows for meaningful peer interaction without becoming overwhelming
Once a group is ready, families are contacted with details and next steps.
What Happens During Group

The consultation helps us:
